Good for the sun / Not the rain
I received this as a gift for my birthday. We took I to the beach and it provided some great shade. Once the wind picked up we had to move it parallel to the wind to keep it stakes down. Unfortunately for me, the next time I used it was on a quick camping trip. I left it set up overnight and we had some pretty heavy rains. When I woke up the next morning, the canopy had buckled over and I broke one of the main poles. The weak point was at the hub that connects the two poles. Currently in the process of shipping the pole back to get it repaired. I will say that I have been very happy with the customer service that Helinox has provided.
Fantastic shade
Got this primarily to provide us with shade at the beach. It was really easy to put up and only took a few minutes. Love how the sides role up to adopt to conditions and to provide more privacy as needed. Three people can fit in the Royal Box but it’s more comfortable for two with plenty of room for a side table such as the Helinox table O or table one. Seems to work fine in the wind ( approximately 12mph). I haven’t experienced high winds while using this but did purchase some canopy sand bags just in case. Overall a great product!
Love it!
Took this to the beach tuis past weekend. Set up was a bit tricky at first for one person but the structure stayed secure once everything was pegged down with stakes. It was a windy day but we had no issues. I think placement is important. We had the back of the tent facing the wind so it was More streamlined. Large deep stakes helped also. Overall great product, held up great for the entire day and packed up nicely in my back pack afterwards. Turned quite a bit of heads also.
Great design but bad for windy weather
I’ve been used this one five times at beach. It was flipped over every time. So I bought four Y shape stakes to fix it. But they wasn’t enough to hold the corners. So I bought J shape stakes. They was good enough to fix the Royal box. But the problem was, front DAC frame was detached form eyelet with beach wind. So I recommend this not for beach or windy environments.
